Preservation fluids influence the cadaver graft function, survival rates and complications. The type of fluid used is even more critical in liver transplantation. The preservation fluids are expensive, are currently being imported, and are not necessarily readily or widely available making it difficult for many institutions to undertake the cadaver programme. The availability of preservation fluids is one of the most critical factors in running such programme successfully. It is the clinicians involved with transplant work joined hands and made a concerted effort to develop such a fluid. Bodies like “Indian Society of Organ Transplantation” should perhaps play an active part in developing this fluid and running a multi-centre trail. One of the Indian pharmaceutical companies has apparently brought out a UW like solution. However so far no clinical or research data is available on efficacy of this solution.
