After a successful launch of patient support group for Kidney Transplant and failure patients at Chennai a similar support group was launched by MOHAN Foundation at Bombay on 18th April, 1999 with the help of Mrs. Malathi Venkatesan and Mr. Murali Menon, core committee members of MOHAN Foundation. A Marathi Booklet for patients “Kidney Transplantation – Before and Afterwards” and a Poster on Organ Donation entitled “Life... Pass it on” in English was also released during the function attended by over 80 patients and their relatives. Dr. A. Kirpalani, Consultant Nephrologist from Bombay Hospital chaired the session and spoke of the need for such a group in Mumbai and accepted to become a core committee member and spear – head the efforts of the Foundation in Mumbai.

A one hour patient- doctor interaction clarified patients’ and relatives’ doubts and anxieties about Kidney failure and transplantation. The questions were answered by a panel of doctors from Mumbai and Chennai, a dietician and social worker.

Monthly meetings in the future were planned. For details of joining patient support group or attending these meetings contact: Mrs. Malathi Venkatesan at Mumbai: 4932757 and Mr. Moorthy in Chennai: 6207000.
