Training by ROTTO-SOTTO, West and Maharashtra

The Regional cum State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO-SOTTO), West and Maharashtra conducted two training programs in Transplant Coordination within the state of Maharashtra and in the western region under the aegis of NOTTO.
- February 24 to February 28, 2025 - The Seth GS Medical College, KEM Hospital, Mumbai - 35 participants
- March 18 to March 22, 2025 - The DKS Hospital, Raipur, in collaboration with SOTTO Chhattisgarh - 50 participants
During these training programs, experts from the field shared detailed information on the THOTA and Rules, provisions of the NOTP (National Organ Transplant Program), functions of NOTTO, ROTTO, and SOTTO, as well as the role of the appropriate authority. The sessions also covered brainstem death diagnosis and declaration, evaluation of potential donors and donor maintenance, process of organ donation in MLC (Medico-Legal Cases).
Faculty lecture at the training
Participants were educated on the basics of kidney, liver, heart, and hand donation and transplants, along with dedicated sessions on cornea, skin, and body donation. Emphasis was placed on the role of transplant coordinators, grief counselling, obtaining consent, the need for awareness, and ethical issues in organ transplantation. Session highlighting infection prevention in transplant recipients, role-plays and group activities were incorporated into the training. The candidates were awarded with course completion certificates jointly issued by NOTTO, ROTTO, and the respective SOTTO.
