On 29^th November 2000, Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation inaugurated its Mobile Dialysis Unit at 766, Poonamalle High Road; Chennai-600010.This was donated by state bank of India as part of its Community Services Projects. Mr. Ramachandra Rao, Chief General Manager, LHO, inaugurated the unit and Dr. John Dirks, Chairman, Global Commission for Advancement in Nephrology and previous Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada presided over the function. The Dialysis Unit will take dialysis to the peripheral areas of Madras and serve poor patients who have acute renal failure and need to have dialysis. The Machines will be placed at Primary Health Care Centres and will be moved around as and when necessary.
