Organ Donation films for television

The Television is the most important impressionable media. For many years the Eye donation Programme has advertised on this media and to a great extent the media has played a role in popularizing this noble concept in India. Today more than 4000 eye donations are taking place in our country. By comparison in the last 5 years since the THO act was passed there has hardly been any national campaigns on Television on similar scale. The problem has been the cost of advertising these short 20 to 30 seconds clippings. Most of the television channels including Doordarshan refuse to give any free airtime for these films despite these films being made in public interests and no organization popularizing the concept of organ donation has resources to be spent for Television advertising. The recent effort from National kidney Foundation, Mumbai in making a film and being advertised on some of the popular channels with world beauty Miss. Yukta Mukhi carrying the message of Organ donation deserves appreciation and acknowledgement.

MOHAN Foundation has also made a short 30 second film on organ donation on Beta cassette in three languages (English, Hindi and Tamil) with one of the stars and if any organization wishes to use the clipping to popularize the concept, it is available free with the foundation. The name of the organization can also be incorporated in the film if necessary.
