Editorial-Dissatisfaction of Cadaver Organ Families

This editorial highlighted an early problem with the deceased organ donation programme - letters from families voicing dissatisfaction with the process of organ retrieval at hospitals. This problem has since reduced greatly with training of transplant coordinators and hospital staff sensitisation.

“...the foundation office staffs receives either letters of complaint from relatives... This is very worrying and all hospitals undertaking cadaver transplant program should examine their programs and lay out protocols for the transplant coordinator to follow. If we do not streamline our efforts, these tragic situations can get blown out of proportion and leave a lot of bitterness behind... The role of the transplant coordinator does not stop with asking for the consent for organ donation...”
