Rajasthan felicitates the families of deceased donors in the state

In a unique initiative, MOHAN Foundation – Jaipur Citizen Forum’s (MFJCF) team Navjeevan organised a special programme ‘Navjeevan Ka Ankur’ to felicitate the state’s deceased organ donors and their families at SMS Hospital auditorium, Jaipur on 18th April 2015. Mr. Rajendra Singh Rathore, Health Minister, Govt. of Rajasthan was the Chief Guest. Tributes were paid to deceased organ donors Late Mr. Mohit Sharma, Late Ms. Radha Rani Jangid and Late Ms. Nirmala Mehta and their families felicitated. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajendra Singh Rathore expressed his gratitude towards the family members of the deceased organ donors. He also appreciated the various awareness programmes done in this regard.
The evening started with lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests followed by a welcome address by Mr. Rajiv Arora, Chairperson, Jaipur Citizen Forum. The medical staff working in the field of deceased donor organ transplantation including doctors, nursing staff and support staff was also felicitated.
Addressing the audience, Justice S. S. Kothari, Lokayukta , Rajasthan said, “A wonderful effort by the Navjeevan team and Rajasthan. The efforts are appreciable and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. I am pleased to know that the Organ Transplant Act is strictly being adhered to and Sawai Mansingh Hospital is geared up to cater to the needy in this health issue too.”
Sharing her views, Ms. Diya Kumari, MLA and Patron Navjeevan said, “It’s an honour to be the Patron of such a noble and life saving cause. I congratulate the entire Team Navjeevan for their efforts in the cause of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant in Rajasthan and assure them of all the support they need.”
Ms. Bhavna Jagwani, Convener, MFJCF, expressed her deep appreciation for the generosity of the deceased organ donors and their families. She said that they had bestowed honour upon Rajasthan. She assured the audience that Team Navjeevan would continue to work selflessly for the cause.
During the programme, a short film was also screened along with felicitation of individuals and contributors to this cause. Mr. Nirmal Nahta, Mayor of Jaipur, Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee of MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Manoj Bhatt, DGP of Rajasthan, Mr. B L Soni, Director of Rajasthan Police Academy and many other dignitaries attended the programme.
