MOHAN Foundation in partnership with FORT (Fortis Organ Retrieval & Transplant) successfully conducted a one week Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme from April 7-11, 2015 at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurgaon.

58 delegates from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Haryana and Delhi-NCR attended the training. More than 50 eminent speakers and experienced professionals from the medical/non-medical fraternity conducted and chaired various sessions. Besides the sessions on technical aspects of organ donation and transplantation, Intensive Care Unit visits were a new addition to the training programme. Everyday a batch of delegates would visit the ICU for practical reinforcement of the teachings especially donor identification and maintenance of a brain dead donor.

The highlight of the training programme was the panel discussion ‘Organ donation in India, the past, present and future’ held on the last day. Dr.N.S. Dharamshaktu (Addl. DGHS, MoHFW), Dr. Saudan Singh (Director, NOTTO), Dr. Aarti Vij (Faculty in-charge, ORBO), Dr. Harsh Jauhari (Chairman, Renal Transplant Surgery, SGRH), Mr. Daljit Singh (President, Fortis Healthcare Ltd.) and Dr. Muktesh Chander (Special Commissioner of Police – Traffic, Delhi) were the panelists. Dr. Sunil Shroff (Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation) and Dr. Avnish Seth (Director, FORT) were the moderators. The training programme came to a close with the valedictory function. Dr. N.S. Dharamshaktu gave away certificates to all the delegates who successfully completed the course.
