Release of Indian Transplant Newsletter – Issue 37

The 10th anniversary event called “Celebration of Life” celebrated the life and spirit of patients that underwent organ transplants during these 10 years. The event was held at Hotel Katriya, Hyderabad at 7 pm on 7th April, 2013. Several organ transplant recipients shared their experience of going through the transplant and the lives that they enjoy after the transplant, and expressed their gratitude to the donor families for their generosity.  Thanks to 138 organ donor families, MOHAN Foundation has facilitated the retrieval and distribution of 854 organs and tissues during these 10 years.

Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji was the Chief Guest at the event.  He urged everyone to consider donating their relatives’ organs, should a death occur in the family. He lauded the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and blessed their work to continue spreading the message of organ donation.

Launch of Swamy Narayan Life Savers Programme

MOHAN Foundation launched yet another unique programme “Swamy Narayan Life Savers Programme”, which is aimed at educating youth, housewives, social groups and corporate about the skills for handling medical, accident and environmental emergencies.

Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, MOHAN Foundation said, “In the current scenario where road accidents are so common, it becomes very important for everyone to handle them effectively so that the ‘golden hour’ is effectively used to save precious lives.” Even among the educated population, this knowledge is unavailable, and that is exactly the reason why MOHAN Foundation has launched this unique one-day programme. The programme is named after Swamy Narayan, son of Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, who died tragically in a fatal road accident in January 2004. The Raghurams donated Swamy Narayan’s kidneys, liver and eyes, thereby saving five lives.
