Motorists who wish to donate their organs after they pass away can now carry a sticker in their driving license affirming their pledge. The Karnataka government's RTO department has agreed to run a pilot project to promote Organ Donation in association with the Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Transplantation and Gift your Organ – a Bangalore based NGO. Here the applicants of driving license will be given an option to express their willingness to donate organs on their driving license. The programme was  launched on 23rd July, 2012 at Electronic City RTO office on a pilot basis.

Organ Donor Sticker on Driver's license

The license will be affixed with a green sticker which says the holder has pledged his or her organs. The transport authority of Karnataka plans to take this initiative across the state. The NGO said the initiative will go a long way in promoting organ donation and ensure that the pledge of those willing to donate their organs is followed.
