One week Transplant Coordinators' Training Programme in Visakhapatnam

As part of the one week transplant coordinators' training programme, three days of didactic and role play sessions were held in December 2011, at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Visakhapatnam. Critical care nurses, Physician Assistants, social workers and Administrators from Lazarus Hospital, CARE Hospital, Apollo Hospital, Queen's NRI Hospital, Manipal Hospital and other social workers interested in the cause of organ donation participated extremely enthusiastically. Expert faculty included Dr. Mohan Maharaj, Dr. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Dr. Nehru, Dr. A.V.N. Chetty and Dr. Siva Prasad. In-house faculty from MOHAN Foundation included Dr. Sumana Navin, Mr. K. Raghuram and Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram. At the end of the training, each of the participants wrote a test that covered all aspects of organ donation and transplantation. All participants were also asked to conduct a survey on organ donation and submit their project.
