Pennsylvania has yet another new organ donation awareness project. Governor Tom Ridge talking about the urgent need for organ donation awareness said, “One person dies every other day, in, our common wealth waiting for a transplant. More than 3,500 Pennsylvanians are in need of life – saving transplants, and many thousands more need life enhancing cornea and tissue transplants”.

As part of the new project, tax payers can donate part of their refund directly to the Organ Donor Awareness Trust Fund or the Breast and Cervical Cancer Research fund by simply indicating how much money they want to donate on the appropriate line on the state income tax form.

Pennsylvania has many other organ donation awareness projects. These include giving state residents the option to register as an organ donor on applying for a driver’s license and supporting donor awareness in conjunction with Pennsylvania’s professional baseball teams. The projects also work on bringing awareness to younger state residents at local school basketball games.
