The 14^th Annual conference of the ISOT was held at Hyderabad from 7^th to 10^th August 2003 at Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resouces Development Institute.

Pre-conference workshops on kidney (Lap donor nephrectomy), liver (video-assisted operation techniques of transplant), and heart (video assisted) were held on 7^th August, 2003 in Kamineni, Global, and Care Hospitals respectively.

250 delegates attended the Congress from both India and abroad. Dr. Mohan Rao (Australia), Dr. T.K.S. Rao (USA), Dr. Rajagopalan (USA), Dr. Ali Bakran (UK), Dr. Praga Pillai(Australia), Dr. Babu Rao (USA), Dr. K.C. Tan (Singapore), Dr. Leong Sea Odd (Singapore) and Dr. Venugopal ( New Delhi) were the guest speakers who participated in the scientific paper, three symposia and fifteen guest lectures.

The slogan of the meeting was “Promote Organ Donation and Cadaver Transplantation”.

During the inaugural address, Prof. R.V.S. Yadav, President – ISOT and others laid emphasis on cadaver organ transplantation. The congress also felt that there was a need to bring about changes in the THO Act and that the ISOT leadership should take the lead. Honorable health minister of A. P, Dr. Kodala Shivaprasad Rao promised to extend every help to bring about desirable changes in the THO Act and to promote organ donation and cadaver transplantation.
