‘Prathibha’- 'splendour' ‘brilliance’ was the name of the thematic exhibition organized by the students of GK Shetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College, Ambattur, Chennai in January this year. One of the projects, which is truly brought out the essence of this exhibition and focused on the ‘brilliance’ of life, thanks to the concerted efforts of the students, was the one on ‘organ donation’.

The student had put together a number of well made charts and exhibits. Reaching into the India mythology to reveal how the concept of organ donation and traplantation is rooted deep in our psyche, the children had exhibits and charts on Lord Vinayaka, Dadheechi Munivar, Kannappa nayanar, Shibi Chakravarthy and also slokas from the Upanishad and bhagavad Gita to illustrate their point. There were also charts explaining the scietific basis for organ donation, i.e., brain death, how it is different from coma, statistical data organ donation in India and abroad and paper clippings on the activities of various NGO's all over India that are striving to promote awareness about organ donation.
