Isabelle Dinoire, 38, the women who received the world’s first partial face transplant in November 2005,  faced the world for the first time with her “new face” in march this year. A circular scar was still visible where the face tissue was attached in the 15-hour -operation in France. She received a triangular-shaped graft, comprising nose, lips, and chin. In terms of colouring, the match between her own skin and the graft appeared remarkable. Her speech was heavily slurred and difficult to understand, but she said that she could open her mouth. Ms. Dinoire thanked and paid homage to the family of the donor. She explained how she was disfigured by a dog bite last year and also spoke about the difficulties of life with disfigurement. But thanks to the transplant, she expected to resume a normal life and hoped to return to work.
