MOHAN Foundation, Pune, represented by its coordinator, Mrs. Nayan Dhamdhere, organised “Maharashtra Cadaver Organ Donation Day” on 27 March 2005. A motor rally with a mobile exhibition and street play was organised to mark the occasion. The rally was conducted in two phases, from 7.30 am to 2pm. And again from 3.45pm to 6.15pm. The mayor of Pune city Hon’ble Mrs. Rajani Tribhuvan arrived at the venue and signed a Donor Card.  In her address, she made an appeal to all the people of Pune to express their wish to donate their organs after death and support the cause of cadaver organ donation. The street play which was enacted by volunteer theatre artistes was well received and was followed by distribution of promotional material. There was participation from places like Aurangabad, Karad, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Goa and Pravaranaga.

Daily Sakal, Times of India, Maharashtra Herald, Indian Express and Saamna and other newspapers responded positively, giving prominent coverage, to the issue of cadaver organ donation and transplantation. Daily Sakaal dedicated a full page in the Sunday supplement to it. These articles and stories received a great response. Thousands of people from all corners of Maharashtra called MOHAN Foundation, Pune, and expressed their wish to donate their organs after death. Akaashwani Pune, Radio Mirchi and Doordarshan gave airtime to promote the cause of cadaver organ donation on Maharashtra Cadaver Organ donation Day. The local volunteers and well wishers had a small get together at the end of the day and expressed their wish to join hands with MOHAN Foundation in an effort to promote the noble cause of cadaver organ donation and transplantation.
