Hounouring the Organ Donors of Hyderabad and their families

We salute their courage and generosity

M. S. MADHAVI, wife of Vanama Suresh, a resident of Kothagudem, Andrhra Pradesh, suddenly developed vomiting and severe headache. She was admitted to KIMA on 10 Nov 2004 and was operated on for brain tumor.  She started recovering but suddenly on the seventh day post operative day, she developed complications and entered into coma.  She was declared brain dead on 17th Nov 2004 The family had a brief idea about organ donation and was a member of the Vasavi eye Bank. Consent was given and the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs and eyes were retrieved.

MR. RAJ MOULI PONNUJU, a tea maker in Police Acadmey , Shivarampally was hit by a speeding lorry on the night of 25 Nov 2004. He was treated in Medwin Hospital, but the accident proved fatal and he was declared brain dead on 26 Nob 2005. His wife agreed to donate his organs after counseling. The retrieval was done at Medwin Hospital. The liver, kidneys and eyes were retrieved.

MR. RAGHUPATHY REDDY, was a primary school teacher in a village in Medak District, Andhra Pradesh. On that fateful evening of  3 Feb 2005, while trying to avoid hitting a buffalo, his vehicle skidded and met with an accident. After first aid was given, he was shifted to Yashodha Hospital, Secunderabad. On 4th February 2005 he was declared brain dead. His family agreed to organ donation.  The retrieval was done at NIMS. The liver, kidneys and eyes were retrieved.

MISS KALPANA, a 10 year old girl was returning home from school along with her little sister on 9th August 2005 when she was hit by a speeding Sumo. She became unconscious and vomited blood. She was shifted to Remedy Hospital Kukatpally for treatment. After six hours, the doctors informed the parents that she was brain dead. To help the family  make  some sense of the tragedy, the options of donating her organs and helping a dying person live , was mentioned to them. The family agreed after counselors from MOHAN Foundation spoke to them. The retrieval was performed on 11 August 2005 at Global Hospital. The liver, kidneys and eyes were retrieved.
