From hereto eternity......Mr.A.V.Ramesh

Six months ago,he thought of eye donation very seriously and decided to donate his eyes.In fact ,he put a note mentioning this in his son’s school notebook.’’little did he know that the moment would come so soon,’’was the pathectic, tearful comment of smt.Raji, wife raji of Air force sergeant A.V.Ramesh.

A.V.Ramesh was a dutiful ,young ,brave and courageous Airforce  sergeant ,37 years old,on the verge of completion of his service and was in a key phase in his phase in his life. His small and happy family included his wife raji and 10-year-old son.

But fate had something else in store for this happy family .on june3,2004,Ramesh met with a road traffic accident and was declared brain dead.MOHAN foundation with the help of Ramesh’s co-brother counseled the family about donating his organs. His wife even in this period of extreme distress consented to the donation .Ramesh’s eyes, kidneys and heart valves were retrieved and transplanted .This gesture was no ordinary deed and we ,at MOHAN foundation ,salute smt.Raji Ramesh for her act of benevolence in passing on her’’HUSBAND’S DEAR LIFE’’ to a fellow human being.

You never said Goodbye

You never said I am leaving

Little did I konw that this little son

Of ours was all set, to set forever

When we heard of him whisper in our ears

Oh mom, dear dad, here I am with the Lord

Enthralled by His Blissful Serenity

Ne'er feel the vacuum of my absence

For I've left the imprints of my presence

Ever praise the Lord but never curse him

For he, whom  the Lord loves never leaves him

There is no pain or pressure

The journey to the distant world is a pleasure

Mom, I left the organs are of no avail

In my quest towards the ultimate

Thus, my wish is to give so that I can take

The cherished values of the Maker

Mom and dad, aren't you proud of me

Our souls are interwinted forever

And we'll never be apart

Ever think of me for I'm right there

Not only is your hearts

But also in someone else's.

Nalini Gopalan,

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR SWAMY

A memorial service was held for R.Swamy Narayan (Appu), the 19-year old son of Mrs.Lalitha Raghuram (Excecutive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Hyderabad) and Mr.Raghuram, who passed away in a tragic car accident in Hyderabad in January 2004. The grieving but courageous family donated Swamy's organs giving people without hope a new lease of life.

Swamy was a student of S.R.M. Valliammal Engineering College, Chennai, and there could have been no better place to hold the memorial service than his alma meter, amongst friends who loved and cared for him. The principal of S.R.M. Valliammal Engineering College, Mr.Param Jothi, and the Head of the Department, Mr.Madhusudhan extended their fullest cooperation in helping MOHAN Foundation organize the memorial service. Swamy's parents and grandmother came down from Hyderabad to attend the service. Mrs.Lalitha Raghuram, bearing up to the tragic loss of her son's friends as her own children. It was very moving listening to Swamy's friends talk about him A: for many of them it was hard to believe they would never see, hear or laugh with him again. A sapling was planted on the college premises in memory of Swamy, a symbol of life and hope through organ donation.
