Organ Donation Symposium at Chandigarh

On 11th April 2012, an Organ Donation symposium was organized at Punjab University, Chandigarh by Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, World Health Organization and MOHAN Foundation. The target audience was postgraduate students and general public including the faculty members from different departments of the University.

 

The event also had delegates from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and Delhi Public School. Dr. R.C. Sobti, Vice Chancellor, Punjab University kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. Dr. Y.K. Chawla, Director, PGIMER presided over the function and Dr. B.S. Aulakh, Prof. of Urology and Head, Renal Transplant, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana was the guest of honour. Mr. Sudhir Dewan, Honorary Director, MOHAN Foundation delivered the welcome address and introduced the dignitaries to the audience. Dr. Sobti spoke about how the human body could be utilized after death through solid organ donation. Dr. Chawla spoke about PGIMER's role in making efforts to increase deceased organ donation and save lives.
