Longest Surviving Renal Transplant Recipient in India

Mr. Anand Prakash, a 63-year-old male, resident of Bokaro, is the recipient of a live-related allograft. The kidney was donated by his father. The transplant wa s performed at the PGIMER, Ch andigarh by a team led by Dr. R V S Yadav and Dr. K S Chugh on 10th May 1978. He has been on Wysolone and Azoran since transplantation. Renal histology on  biopsy had shown membrano proliferative glomerulonephritis and subsequently he had gone into chronic end-stage renal failure. He has been on fol low up at the PGIME R, Chandigarh and Dr. Mukteshwar Rajak, Nephrologist at Bokaro General Hospital, Bokaro Steel City. His recent blood urea was 17mg/dL and serum creatinine 0.6mg/dL.
