What is the cause for low organ donation rates in Canada? |
Low organ rates in Canada are attributable to; guess what “clean and Healthy living”! According to a report entitled “Donation Matters – Demographics and organ transplant in Canada,2000 to 2004 by the Vancouver based Urban Futures Institute, the low rate is largely due to the fact that fewer Canadians die from motor vehicle accidents, gunshots and cerebral – vascular diseases such as stroke and aneurysm. Canada ranks 13th in the world for organ donation with a rate of 13.7% donations per million people.
