The current issue is the first annual issue of the newsletter. It contains the compiled cadaver transplant figures from our country from all the centres (mostly from 1994-95) since the THO act was passed to the present day. The figures quoted in the newsletter are as accurate as possible. Some of the centres fail to acknowledge the importance of such data in our country and despite constant reminders have not sent us their latest figures. Hence, the figures may not be the actual tally of the total cadaver organ transplantations done in our country.

We have added some new features with this newsletter. As the readership among patients is growing, we are adding “patient’s area” where a patient can express their opinion and share their experiences. Our mailbag constantly receives letter from readers and hence we have added a “Feedback” area. The general format of the newsletter is preserved as before.

We continue to dispatch 2000 of these newsletters to our members and doctors of transplant community in both India and abroad. Sometimes we receive letters asking for either the back issues or the current issue. The best way to ensure uninterrupted dispatch of the newsletter is by becoming a member of the foundation. Also, keep us informed of any change in your address. Our website (ww.india4u.com/mohan) receives letters from patient and relatives desperately seeking for help from all over the world. The “Transplantation Telemedicine” area on the web site is a unique “first” and doctors from transplant field are invited to visit it and let their patients benefit from this facility that is freely available.
